So, I have been very quiet on the postings as of late, since I am embarking on a new effort to help our Environmental and Fisheries Resources. You will see that info in the next post. For this one I just want to celebrate the fact that we did eventually get both an in River and Marine Sockeye fishery on the Fraser and in the salt water around the mouth. The sockeye run peaked around August 20th to 25th and thereafter it is hard to say if the run continued or it was just hammered by the net fisheries in both the Saltwater and in river. Needless to say, there were not many fish left in the Fraser for the sport fishermen on the Labour Day weekend as there were multiple net fisheries that sucked up all the stock. Finally I was able to celebrate a couple of days off and especially fun to get out with family and friends to enjoy the simple pleasure of casting and actually catching sockeye. I was particularly pleased to get out with my good friend and colleague in Environmental Protection, Bambang. He just retired from the Indonesian Department of Environment and flew out from Jakarta to join me on the river. It was his first experience salmon fishing and he just had a great time. That is what it is all about and why we have to fight hard to preserve the fishery.......The video below is a tribute to my friend and good times. And the reason I am slow on loading updates is because I am embarking on a new career endeavor. Yes, I am seeking the nomination to the Federal Conservative Party of Canada for the riding of North Vancouver. Yes, this is severely cutting into my fishing time, but the goal of protecting our environmental and fisheries resources is worth it. You can check out my other web site, www.votepeterkrahn.com below. If you know anyone in North Vancouver who could support me, please refer them to my new web site and also sign up at www.conservative.ca to become a member and vote for me at the nomination meeting in North Vancouver later this Fall. In order for me to win the nomination a person must reside in North Vancouver, be a citizen of Canada or a permanent Resident and be 14 years or older. So please, refer my contact info to anyone you know in the Riding of North Vancouver.
